What is the best way to petition my fiancee?

My fiancee has been here illegally for 10 years (since he was 15). He does not have a criminal background. I am a U.S. citizen working full time and I am about to graduate with an accounting degree. I understand that if we were to get married and I was to petition him, he would face a 10 year bar unless we could prove extreme hardship. Could me having slight health issues (I'm undiagnosable but have LUPUS symptoms) be considered hardship? Or could we have him leave the country and I petition him once he's already in Mexico? Please advice, thanks!
